Do I need to bring anything to claim through HICAPS?
Just your private health insurance card — either a physical card or your fund’s digital card on your phone. We’ll take care of everything else at the terminal.
What if I’ve already used my annual extras limit?
Extras limits reset on either 1 January or your policy anniversary date depending on your fund. If you’ve reached your annual limit, you’re welcome to continue as a private patient and pay the full appointment cost until your limit resets. Give us a call if you’d like to discuss your options.
Can I claim for my whole family at the same appointment?
Yes — most family extras policies cover all members of the family under the one policy. Each family member’s claim is processed separately through HICAPS at their own appointment.
What if my health fund isn’t recognised by HICAPS at the terminal?
In the rare event that your fund can’t be processed through HICAPS on the day, you can pay the full amount and claim your rebate directly through your health fund’s app or website. Most funds make this very straightforward and rebates are usually processed within a day or two.
